The Mount Baker Toppers

Who are the Toppers?

The Bellingham Chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society is a group of men committed to the performance of a cappella music of celebrated quality performed in the barbershop style. We invite as members men of good character who enjoy musical and social fellowship, who desire to share their love of music within the community, and who aspire to grow in musical excellence and preserve the tradition of four-part harmony singing.

We sing many styles of music, but particularly favor the barbershop style. We desire to share our love of music with the community. We strive for musical excellence. We rehearse once a week and perform on average once a month.

We range in age from 14 years old to 80 years old. We are affiliate members of CASA and the Barbershop Harmony Society.

Where can I hear some barbershop?

The Toppers rehearse every Tuesday night in our own rehearsal hall at 1418 Willeys Lake Rd. Lynden, Washington. Our rehearsals are fun and informative. Our rehearsal style is educational. As we rehearse our selections, several excellent coaches who help us to get maximum entertainment impact out of each song and each performer coach us. As a chorus we like to be stretched and challenged to be better singers and performers. Musical education and vocal training are a part of every rehearsal. If you want to have voice lessons, this is a good way to do it. It is a lot less expensive and it’s fun.

We rehearse for 2 ½ hours with a short break in between and we end every rehearsal with a pizza social.

Can I sing barbershop?

Do you sing in the shower? Can you carry a basic tune? Do you love to sing fun stuff? Do you love great harmony? If so, what are you waiting for?

The Toppers are about 40 of over 30,000 new friends who just can't wait to bust a chord or two with you! You'll be surprised at just how easy it is to sing and sound great!

How do I get involved?

Drop in and visit on a Tuesday night. We start at 7:15 pm and go until about 9:30 pm. You can get a feel for the barbershop style by singing with the Toppers chorus, then sing with a quartet to enjoy the thrill of contributing 1/4 of the warm, rich sound barbershop is famous for. You will be glad you came, and so will we!
